The Covington Cowgirls Drill Team is a non-profit organization, established in August of 1999, to
promote the sport of drill team, good horsemanship, and community involvement. We are a group
of ladies 14 & up from all over Covington County and South Alabama that have come together to
make up this diversified group.  We get together once, sometimes twice, a week to practice
precision drills on horseback.  It takes a lot of practice and hard work to prepare for the Rodeos
and Horse Shows that we perform at during the year.  We can be seen in opening events, such as
flag ceremonies, as well as our drill routines, set to music on horseback, at many rodeos
throughout South Alabama and Northwest Florida.  In between our practice and performance
schedule we are very busy with many charitable events.  In the fall we host an Alabama Jr. High
& High School Rodeo with proceeds going to a $1,000 College Scholarship to a Covington
County Female Student.  We have two benefit trail rides a year.  In the Spring we have a ride for
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and in the Fall we have a benefit ride for Special Needs Students in
Covington County.  We also participate in the Community Christmas project, and donate to
organization’s like Opportunity House, (a battered women and children’s shelter), Camp Victory,
(boys and girls camp), families in need after a disaster, and our local cowboys and cowgirls who
compete in the State and National Finals Rodeo.  If you think that mounted drill may be
something for you, come join us
