GENERAL PRACTICES
1. The team will practice every Tuesday night (7:00) with additional practices scheduled as necessary prior to a               
    performance.
2. Practices are mandatory for all riders ** and must be punctual.  Riders should be i
n the arena warmed up and ready   
     to ride at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
3. Practice time is from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30.
4. Since the drill team is not a place for basic-training of a horse, horses that demonstrate the need for basic training to
    the point of being unruly or disruptive to the practice, may be asked to step out of the practice.
5. Must be present at last two practices prior to event and have 75% attendance for practices between
  performances to perform.  (excused absences at discretion of Directors)

DRESS REHEARSAL
All equipment, uniform, coggins, horse (i.e. identical to performance night) must be in attendance. Any failure to fill
dress rehearsal requirements will result in an absence and/or inability to ride in the performance.

ABSENCES
1. It is the responsibility of the rider to notify a Director of an absence prior to the practice. Failure to do so will             
    result in a unexcused absence.
2. If a rider misses more than three unexcused practices between each performance it may be                                        
    necessary to ask the rider to relinquish their position for this performance.
3. The Director must be notified of rider vacations at least two weeks in advance.
4. If a rider misses a practice it is their responsibility to find out what they missed and to be prepared for the next          
    practice.
5. If a rider mises 6 consecutive unexcused absences, suspension of at least 90 days will occur.

TEAM GOLDEN RULES
1. Each member will contribute to the others encouragement and moral support with a positive attitude.
2. Loss of temper and abuse of horse, rider or guest shall result in expulsion from the team.
3. Horses will need an up-to-date negative Coggins on file. The rider is responsible for providing the Secretary with a     
    copy before bringing a new horse into the group.
4. Each member shall be responsible for both personal or club equipment or uniforms while in her possession.  Should    
    any of these items become lost or damaged during this time it is their responsibility to bring the matter to the           
    attention of the director.
5. All uniforms will be turned in at the next practice after performance.
BY-LAWS & RULES

          The purposes of this organization are:
a.  To promote the sport of equine drill team in women 14 and older.
b.  To form a network of women working together to enhance equine drill team skills.
c.  To promote horsemanship.
d.  To culminate these skills and knowledge in a successful and skilled drill team performance.

MEMBERS RESPONSIBILITY
a.  Any team member should report back to any officers, any suggestions or corrections concerning rules.
   improvements or disagreements.
b.  ANY fussing, fighting, or backbiting among members will result in the suspension of all members involved.
c.  Agree to ride at least 75% of the agreed on practice dates.
d.  If you need to leave a practice or performance early please check out with an officer.
e.  Will attend all the events for which I sign up unless an emergency occurs, then contact an officer.
f.  Threats of any kind will result in immediate disciplinary action.  (If you get mad and say that you are not
   going to ride in performance...more than likely you won't -- at the Directors discretion.)
g.  In order to participate in an event you must be signed up 3 weeks prior to event.  (Any deviations will
   be at Directors discretion.)
h.  I may not be allowed to ride with the drill team if I do not meet these requirement:
     1.  Must be able to lope horse consistently.
     2.  Be 14 or older.
     3.  Have proper uniform and all items required for Event.
     4.  Know and be able to perform Drill Pattern.
f.  I understand that as a member I will participate in 100% of fund raisers or will be subject to extra dues.
   (concessions, bake sales, car washes, trail rides, hosting rodeo, etc.)
g.  No Stallions (for safety reasons).
h.  I understand and will pay membership dues in the amount of $25.00 annually and $10.00 per additional family
   member.  (Due January 31st)  which will  be used for team supplies such as flags and other things that we may need.
i.   I understand the drill team Directors reserve the right to restrict any member from riding at any event or
   practice if, at the Director's discretion it is felt that the rider or horse is not ready to participate in the drill.
j.   Past members who let their membership expire must go through the new member policy.
k.  Only members may attend meetings.

NEW MEMBERS
All perspective new members will be allowed a 120 day (12 practices) probationary period (dues are not due until after
this time).  During this time the Director, and/or team, or new rider may terminate this perspective membership.  
Termination will require a 2/3 vote by the team.  After 120 days, initial membership dues will be due (if voted in).  The
new rider will require 6 practices before participating in performances.  Any exceptions to this rule will be up to the
Directors.  Votes will be counted and the perspective member will be notified by mail (yes or no).  After being voted in
you may join in our meeting on the 1st Tuesday of each month.

NON-RIDING MEMBERS
 Someone who does not have a horse or for some reason is not able to participate by riding a horse, yet wishes to be an
active member of the Covington Cowgirls Drill Team.
          
RESPONSIBILITIES
          a. Must attend no less than 6 regular meetings per year.
          b. Must participate in all fund raisers.
          c. Must support other members and CCDT as a whole.
          d. Must complete same probationary period as any riding member in order to become an active member.
  Failure to comply with member responsibilities could result in expulsion from the CCDT with final decision being
  made at the discrepancy of the elected officers.  Non-riding members are bound by the same rules and by-laws as
  active members and are expected to abide by them accordingly.

INACTIVE MEMBERS
  Any member who cannot ride due to illness, family situations, or some short term situation.
          
RESPONSIBILITIES
          a. Must keep officers informed on status throughout the year.
          b. Must participate in all fund raisers.
          c. Must go active or non-riding status in January of new season
in order to maintain CCDT membership
             after being inactive for a complete rodeo season. (January to January)
   Failure to comply with member responsibilities could result in expulsion from the CCDT with final decision being
  made at the discrepancy of the elected officers.  Inactive members are bound by the same rules and by-laws as
  active members and are expected to abide by them accordingly.
 
EXPULSION OF A MEMBER
a.  Loss of temper and abuse of a horse, rider or a guest shall result in expulsion from team.
b.  Profanity and the use of alcohol and illegal drugs during practices and performances are forbidden.         
c.  Since the Drill Team is not a place for basic-training of a horse, horses that demonstrate the need for  
   basic-training to the point of unruly or disruptive to the practice, may be asked to step out of practice
   and/or performance.
d.  All equipment, uniform, Coggins, horse (i.e. identical to performance night)  must be in attendance at the
   Dress Rehearsal.  Any failure to fill the dress rehearsal requirements will result in an absence and/or
   inability to participate in the performance.
e.  Any failure to fill the dress rehearsal requirements will result in absence and/or inability to participate in
   the performance.

UNIFORMS
a.  Each member shall be responsible for both personal and club equipment or uniforms while in her
   possession.  Should any of these items become lost or damaged during this time it is her responsibility
   to bring the matter to the attention of the Director.
b.  All uniforms will be turned in at the next practice after performance or you will not be able to ride.
c.  For shows, parades and performances all riders & horses will be DRESSED ALIKE. (No Deviations).
d.  NO SMOKING when in uniform.  This is due to the smoke getting in uniforms and destroying them.
